I’ve been a long time user of OmniFocus (OF), despite trying countless alternatives. Whether it’s after a few days or weeks or even almost immediately, I always return to OF.
When it comes to the software tools I use, I often find myself looking at new apps and their new versions. I like to explore if they are more intuitive or more pleasant to use. The latter is more important than you might think – if it’s not a joy to use it’s likely it I won’t use it at all!
Sometimes I find apps which are prettier, have clever features or touch a nerve some other way. Sometimes they even work for a while. Before long though I’m back to OmniFocus (OF). I know it will do what I need it to do.
Sometimes I wish OF would have a few more cosmetic options, other times I am glad it doesn’t. I don’t use OF when I need to share tasks and collaborate. Other than that, it has more than enough features and power to cover my needs.
Whatever solution you choose there is one feature which makes all the difference. The ability to get tasks into the app, especially from email is critical. Using your inbox as your todo list is one the least productive habits you can have!
Next time… Why I always come back to Evernote
